Elections

The recent events regarding the Infernals guild and my outguilding some people bent on giving the patronage to Twilight after I had refused His most generous and magnificent offer, have left a bit of a cloud hanging over the office of Guild Master. Many Achaeans felt I had moved to protect my own position in fear of an election and not to protect the guilds reputation. Reputation is very important to me, yes, but I put my personal reputation behind the works of the guild, not the chair I sit in. If our guild thrives and gives meaning to its members, then I am a sucess.
Since I had told Sarapis I would step down if He felt my outguildings were harsh, I did just that. I inguilded all of the Twilighters, with the expectation of them challenging me for my job. The exception was Valor who did not wish to join the guild or challenge me. Sarapis was kind enough to restore the outguilded to GR5 so they could challenge and vote. Five people stepped up at my request. Twilighters, fighters, statesmen, and prominent guild members. Today, the election is over, and I was voted in again by the guild, with a surprising rally of support from the Twilighters.
This guildmaster has much to do in the next month, so please bear with me, if I seem distant. The guild is as united as it has been for a long time. I thank all of you who voted, not only those who voted for me. I did not actually see the results, but since all of those who stepped foreward to challenge me posted that they would rather not win, I can only conclude that either the job is notably unpopular, or I was the right man for the job. Either way, I will continue to work to keep our guild the fine knightly brotherhood it has been since its beginnings.
As for our patronage, we are in the middle of a referendum and the choices are accept Twilight, wait for Aegis/Sartan, or find a third party to plead our case in the Garden. The result is going to be clearly that the guild wishes to find a third party. I will be looking into this, as one of the first things I do in the new administration.
