Tips and Tricks to make Achaea a better place for everyone.

I think we can all agree that Achaea is a great place! Otherwise, we
wouldn't be here. As I've lived my life here in Achaea, I've noticed
some things that I have finally decided to address. The first issue I'd
like to address is that of roleplaying. Frankly, I don't see much of
it. This is one thing that isn't so great about Achaea. You see, the
gods have all gone through great pains to create for us a detailed world
and history off of which we can begin adding our own influence and
making history each and every day we play. By neglecting roleplaying,
we destroy the very fabric of Achaea. Why should the deities continue
to add to this great land, if none of us show our appreciation in the
form of adding our part. I'm sure they appreciate the many monetary
donations that are made, but fleshing out your character and making
Achaea as believable a place as possible would also be much appreciated.

In light of this, I have decided to add some tips that help for making
great roleplay.

1) Don't refer to mobs as *mobs*, ever...not on any channel or when
chatting. The animals, beasts, and sentient beings that make up
Achaea should be talked about in the same light as any other person.
Goblins in Azdun don't just spawn for us to go "bash". They are
simply mining...one would be more in character to say, "I'm heading
down into Azdun to see if I can find any goblins."

2) If you haven't actually met someone in person(in the game) it's poor
roleplay to just call them by name. In fact, it would be excellent
if you asked their name. Obviously there are exception to this, such
as overhearing someones name. Also, don't just start talking to
people you haven't actually met IC as if you'd known them for ages.
In a real medieval society such as ours, strangers were often not
well trusted.

3) Try to keep your character in the context of your chosen guild, if a
monk, act monk like. Try to think about what it means to be a monk
and then act on that. Then, on top of that, imagine what it means
to be a monk *within* Achaea, i.e. whether your a Sentaari monk or
a Kharon monk will have a different bearing on your character. If
you're a druid, you would probably take offense at senseless killing
of animals.

4) Stay mature in almost everything you do, a lot of the interaction
I have seen in both shouts and city tells sounds like a lot of
trash talking highschoolers. Example:
A forceful male voice shouts "Lets go team up on soandso"
An impressive male voice shouts "Come and get me big boy!"
This does nothing but destroy the very fabric of the world in which
we live.

5) Titles are a great and fun thing to have, and no offence to all my
friends, but titles like:
snuggly wubbly soandso, the great
are certainly not IC...and everytime I see someone named such, I
inwardly groan.

I hope none take offence at this post, and sincerely desire that we will
all start to make Achaea a better place for everyone. It really can be
fun to roleplay if someone just puts forth a little effort and I'm quite
sure that the gods will be more motivated to continue adding to this
great land. By us not roleplaying, we basically insult the ones that
worked so hard for our enjoyment. By us not roleplaying, this is no
more than a sophisticated chat room with a few "toys" to keep us
entertained when converation gets thin. If you agree with this post,
I urge you to start setting an uncompromising example so that hopefully
your influence will spread and all will start "helping out" Achaea.

Sincerely,
Grandmaster Alloy
