Apparently created by the mysterious beings known as the Forsaken, the
dread miasma continued its progression towards the crystal sphere that
was created by another group of mysterious beings known as the Guardians
of the Icewynd, apparently as part of an ancient conflict between the
two groups. One of the Guardians had come to the Basin of Life: Wiliki,
Justice of the Icewynd. Wiliki had warned that the Forsaken had sent the
miasma to destroy the crystal sphere in order to complete the subversion
of the weather in order to subjugate the entire world.

When comets fell on the Basin of Life and released the terror of the ice
devils, the miasma began a renewed and stronger effort to reach the
crystal sphere. Guardian Wiliki revealed that the crystal sphere would
be able to convert the essence of the ice devils and use it against the
miasma in the form of ice spike. Thus, a concerted effort began to slay
the ice devils, convert the essence and destroy the miasma once and for
all.

In the end, the miasma was reduced to its core, a seething mass in which
the red eyes of the Forsaken could be seen peering through from their
remote location far away in the Icewynd. Guardian Wiliki himself battled
the core of the miasma, and was finally able to destroy it, freeing the
Basin of Life from its threat.

But with the latest efforts thwarted, what will the Forsaken plan next?
The Era of the Wounded Sky continues to hang over Lusternia, like a
knife poised to fall. And if it does fall, will anyone be willing to
catch the falling knife?
