Challenge of Knowledge

Written by: Avechna, the Avenger

Addressed to: Everyone

As the learned mortals of the Basin of Life entered the chamber of Knowledge, they found a grave-faced Avenger before them. The presence of the Astral Plane, He said, weighed heavily upon His mind as this Challenge approached. He urged them to continue, no matter what happened - to see the Challenge through and the Seal claimed. And so, despite many attempts by Ghani n'Rotri to distract them with twisted visions and manifestations, they persevered.

Early on, Aspirant Atiya of Magnagora took a compelling lead, proving his knowledge of all things Astral, Void and Soulless to be beyond that of the others. But as the quiz continued, it was a veteran of the Challenge of Knowledge who rose to vie against him. Determined not to make this Seal her fifth time on the middle step of the podium, Kalaneya Shee-Slaugh stood proud as she demonstrated her own knowledge.

And in the end, with one question remaining, ten points remained between Atiya and Kalaneya. But this final question had been preordained by the Avenger to be worth only eight more points: thus, it was clear that the Seal had already been won, at last.

Not wishing the Avenger to have the final word, n'Rotri made a final strike. As the champions of the Basin departed the Inquisitor's chambers, they were struck by visions that filled them with the horror of the Astral Plane. Vowing that no ally of the Soulless would be permitted to interfere in the Trials, Avechna the Avenger departed to ward the First World from the High Prophet's machinations.

Congratulations Kalaneya Shee-Slaugh of Glomdoring!
