Envoy changes and call for applications

Hi everybody,

Now that guilds are dead and envoy changes can finally happen, we've got
less than a month before envoys will be reinstated. I am going to go
over some of the planned envoy changes, but keep in mind these do have
the potential to change:

* Envoys are being moved to an org position. An org will be allowed up
to five envoy positions.
* Orgs will receive a pool of reports per month, rather than one per
envoy. This will be an excercise in maturity, prioritisation, and
selflessness I'm sure, but it will hopefully help with the issue of
envoys not being used to their full potential (reports not being filed
by inactive or otherwise uninterested envoys).
* We will be introducing QoL/RP slots. This will not prevent anybody
from using their normal reports on QoL changes or RP changes, but will
encourage envoys to actually do so instead of focusing on combat
entirely.
* I will be using my spare time in the next month and my less-than-spare
time closer to the reinstatement of envoys to make certain certain
information and standards are made available, as it has been a common
complaint in the few months of my tenure from envoys that they had no
'bar' to reach for with their reports.

Now, on that note, I am putting up a call for envoy applications. I have
a few specific things I want you to make sure you are aware of before
you apply though.

* Envoy is a highly OOC position. The channel, the envoyhelps, the test
server is entirely OOC. And this can be immersion-breaking.
* Envoys are expected to be willing to discuss, and most of all, ask
questions if they aren't sure.
* Your participation in the monthly vote is mandatory. Commenting is
optional but highly encouraged.
* Envoys are given access to information most players are not. This is
so they may write their reports knowledgably, and is given in a position
of trust. Violation of that trust has severe consequences, including
Ianir, the Oneiroi, and the Norns glaring angrily at you while they
strip you of your position.
* Envoys are an OOC position - Power plays over said position are not
tolerated. The position has no bearing on your standing IC.
* Be constructive. Arguments happen, disagreement happens. Don't make it
your life's goal to disagree with and argue about everything needlessly.

It sounds like a lot, but it has some perks:

* You get input on the direction combat goes in the game.
* You get previews of interesting new features that are in the works
(eternally because Ianir works on 20 projects at once and never has time
to finish any of them).
* People seem to think you know something about how the game works for
some reason.
* You get to listen to Ianir's drunken rambling about various subjects
and occasionally see pictures of his cat.
* ... I'm struggling here, help me out.

--

Now, if that all sounds like fun to you, then you might just be
interested in the envoy position! But how do I become an envoy, you ask?
Simple! Simply fill this out and send it to Ianir in either a letter or
an email (ianir@lusternia.com) and expect a response in 4 to 6 business
weeks.
