My Father

Father,

I know not your name, nor your location. What I was given of your existence from mother was fleeting and fearful. She feared you and told me to do the same. When I was small, you left me scarred in a way that remains. I am told you know my name, though I only saw you once, and then it was as I ran through the market-place to escape your blows.

But now I seek you. You who bedded Cordia Farrell against her will, or so I am told. I do not seek retribution. Contact me by any means that suits you. To know it is you and not some impostor, identify the scar.

Bellentine Farrell Deveroux

Penned by my hand on the 2nd of Artificium, in the year 37 AM.
