For this, I give...

What will it take?
What words can I say?
What abuse must I take?
To prove I am here to stay?

We shared much once, I broke that.
We gave each other happiness once, I took that.
I know I can never make it up.
But I want to make it easier.

I expect nor require your forgiveness.
I do not need to know you love or loved me.
Simply know, I regret what I've done.
The pain I've caused and the trials I put you through.

I only want friendship, someday.
To know that you can see me around
And not want to smash me down.
And not want to growl in my direction.

Take my life, as you took your own..
Will it make this easier?
Take my harp, break it now.
Does that feel like my heart?

Penned by my hand on the 9th of Tenebrae, in the year 630 AD.
