Late last month Arawen Ashtear wandered innocently through the streets of Antioch. She seemed lost in the letter she was writing until she came upon Tazun and Niella, and later Laia and others. After some prompting she confessed the letter was for her love, a Knight, Cwincan.

It seems that Cwincan had saved her during her first foray away from the walls of Antioch when she became lost in a forest and was attacked by a beast. The anti-magickers balked slightly at first to hear of her love for one who is tainted, but upon hearing that Arawen and Cwincan had not even touched, encouragement came in a variety forms, from telling her to leave and be with him to asking her if he would give up his tainted ways and come be with her. The discussion was passionate and went on for some time as the maiden was both in love but pious as well, dedicated to her Gods and also to her family.

Suddenly the air turned cold and the light turned an unnatural black and a robed man appeared from strange shadow. Arawen revealed him to be Cwincan's brother, Mordard, and also accused him of many forms of wickedness. Mordard, for his part, said he would give up everything to be with Arawen. This the maiden refused, in part not believing and in greater part not willing to give up her knight.

The people gathered in Antioch offered to cleanse Mordard regardless of the outcome of love, saying that if he wished true cleansing he would do it for himself. After a long hesitation, they told him to be cleansed or to go, which he did.

Mordard cast his foul dark magick and grabbed Arawen, who dropped her letter as she was stolen away, screaming in terror.

Penned by my hand on the 3rd of Naturalis, in the year 659 AD.
