Greetings!

I am since now in charge of the classlead handling and development, any questions related to the classlead process should be directed at me.

Hot on the heels of the Defiler release, a new round is starting right now! The process will follow a schedule similar to the last year's rounds. Subsequent rounds may or may not look differently, depending on how well the current system ends up working.

The classlead system is described in more details in HELP CLASSLEADS, including all the syntaxes. Each player is allowed to submit a maximum of 5 reports per round, and you need to have learned roughly one Transcendent skill worth of lessons (doesn't need to be all in a single skill) in order to be able to participate.

The report gathering will end on the 10th November at or shortly after 18:00 GMT - that is one week from now. Please be sure to submit your reports by then, as unsubmitted reports will not be considered.

The gathering phase will be followed by a commenting phase, where you will be able to comment on the submitted reports. I should note that this will work differently than the endorsing/censuring mechanics currently described in HELP CLASSLEADS - I will post more specifics after the report gathering phase has been completed.

I should also note that some post-release Defiler balancing could end up being done outside of classleads, if it proves necessary - that will depend on how the new profession plays out.

The bashing and aspect changes, which were originally started within the classlead system, will be worked on separately - Dranor or Grael will likely be posting more information on these when it's available.

Finally, a couple of tips to increase the chance of seeing your report approved and implemented:

- Do not neglect the problem description section of the report - knowing the problem that you are trying to address is usually much more important than the actual solution.

- When describing the problem that you are trying to address, avoid using terms such as 'underpowered' or 'overpowered', and don't compare individual profession abilities against those of another profession or circle - each profession is meant to stand on its own merits, and any such comparisons more often than not produce misleading results.

- Try to come up with original ideas where possible - requests to copy abilities from one profession to another are unlikely to be approved, unless a convincing reason is provided.

- Avoid asking that abilities are deleted - if you feel that an ability is "broken beyond repair", so to speak, proposing a different functionality for the ability is much more likely to be approved.

- Avoid asking for too much - solutions that require significant additions or alterations to multiple abilities, or even whole skillsets, are unlikely to be approved due to time constraints.

- If you are proposing a new ability as a solution to a problem, you can increase your chances of success by including an alternative solution that resolves the problem by tweaking an existing ability instead - adding new abilities is usually more time consuming that adjusting existing ones. Obviously, this will not always be possible - use your best judgement.
