736, The Year of War

Written by: Caelan, Knot of the Underwood
Date: Wednesday, February 22nd, 2017
Addressed to: Everyone

In honour of Lord Aegis' triumphant return to Sapience, the Aegean Army will be celebrating with an entire year of festivities. There will be games and contests for everyone. Each winner or winning team will recieve the prizes. Runners up will recieve a medallion acknowledging their participation. All favours will be gifted from Lord Aegis, Himself and will be determined by His approval of your performance. Not only that, but we will be hosting arena events throughout the year, randomly.

The quick list of festivities are as follows, with more to come!

Essence Contest:
This contest will last until 25 Mayan, 736.
War can be a tedious and boring enterprise when the battle is not
occurring. The longer the campaign, the harder it is to maintain your morale and resolve. Furthermore, essence is a valuable resource, and prudent resource management is key in preparing for warfare.

The essence event will run from 10th of Sarapin until the 25th of
Mayan. All essence will be offered to a shrine of Lord Aegis. This
essence must come from denizens only. No gold or player essence will be counted.

Rewards:
- Lord Aegis' favour
- An assortment of Talisman pieces worth roughly 100 credits.

Design Contest:
Submissions Due to Jadys by: 1 Ero, 736

Creativity on the battlefield can often mean the difference between victory or certain defeat. Innovation can surprise the enemy and perhaps win the war. Indeed, even the annals of history are replete with tales of creativity being the key to successful campaigns.

Designs need not be constrained to the list of patterns supplied by the Crafting Union. However, submitted designs must be related to the realm of War or Lord Aegis. If the purpose of your proposed item is best demonstrated via interaction, you should also design that as well. The winning designs will become property of the Supreme Commander, and Hixari may use them as blueprints to be sold in the Aegean Keep.

Rewards:
- Lord Aegis' favour
- 250,000 gold
------------------------------------------------

Writing Contest:
Submissions Due to Bann by: 1 Scarlattan, 736

Many stories are told relating to war: stories of great defeats and victories alike. We remember those who fell, and those who rose to the occasion in their campaigns. Factual or fictional, the subject must encompass the realm of War. They will be reviewed and judged by a panel comprised of members of the Aegean Army.

Rewards:
- Lord Aegis' favour
- a complete Black Wave finality ring set.
- a complete Black Wave taper set.
------------------------------------------------

Jousting Tournament:
Submit your name to Datrius by: 1 Daedalan, 736

Scheduled start : 1 Miraman, 736
Scheduled end : 25 Mayan, 736

Jousting is often considered a game of sport. However, demonstrating skill while utilising all tools available to you, including mounts and lance, are, in and of themselves, an art form requiring skill and composure. The ability to think fast and make swift and best decisions in battle are also hallmarks of mastering the aspects of war.

This will be a single-elimination tournament. Individuals who wish to participate must submit their name to Datrius by the first of Daedalan, 736AF. Names will be then be randomly picked and paired into brackets.

Winners and losers will be updated through messages. Both jousters must gather at the Matsuhama Arena at their pre-arranged time and CHALLENGE <opponent> TO JOUST TOURNAMENT. Regardless of whether you have won or lost, each participant must message the result to Datrius.

All jousting matches must be completed by the end of Mayan, or else your place in the tournament is forfeited.

Rewards:
- Lord Aegis' favour
- a complete BlackWave Talisman goblin set.

Penned by my hand on the 15th of Phaestian, in the year 735 AF.
