On coexistence and eradication

Mister Zviera,

I shall not comment on the matter of the excommunicated priestess Melodie Le'Murzen, it is a more delicate matter upon which I do not dare venture myself without proof to back my statement. Even if it is my work to make sure that any who profess to walk into the Light truly do so, do rest assured that I was not the one who handled the gathering of evidence that led to her sudden downfall. I do not know Melodie beside that Fate once brought her to my atelier, two hundred years ago, to have her portrait painted by my hand. My compassion goes to her, however, and this no matter the judgment that was passed upon her.

I will not answer for the Dawnlord of Targossas: he is a man, chosen by the Bloodsworn, and able to speak for his own actions both as an individual and as the leader of our esteemed City.

However, I will answer to your general statement, and make my posture ultimately clear: the greater evil that resides in the hearts of mortals is their tendency to be self-serving at the expense of Creation. Our world was created whole by Ayar, and it is this one, single world that was given to us. The greatest threat Creation has ever faced is the gaping maw of oblivion and entropy, which we, as warriors of Good, stand against. This was true of those who lived in the fallen Jewel, which was allied to the fair city of Cyrene in these days, and it is no less true of those who hone their blades in the barracks of Targossas, the Dawnspear.

In this, our fight puts us into opposition against a very specific number of heresies, and not against the world as you would like to depict. Phaesteans, Scaralattans, Naereans and most other faith have their rightful place within the greatest whole that is Creation, and as thus they are not the object of any threats from the warriors of Fire and Light. For once, and for all, please understand that it is not Targossas against the world, but Targossas -for- the world. We are, all of us, as children of Creation, entitled to the paradise that They seek to build as long as we work hand in hand to build it.

You do not need to worship the Lightbringer, or the Righteous Fire, to build a better tomorrow, but it is only logical that a better tomorrow cannot not be built -against- Creation. As such, those who would enslave others for delusions of power, those who invite the very powers that seek to undo our world, and those who spread lies and turn us all against another are counterproductive, if not dangerous, and these are -your- enemies as much as they are Their enemies. Is it not logical then, that the peoples of Sapience refuse to aid the followers of Evil, Chaos and Darkness, since they are in opposition to the well-being of this world?

From this, Mister Zviera, let us take another step forward: Light and Fire are your protectors, even if your worship brings you into the arms of another divine, even if you belong to another city, because you are a part of Creation. As such, you should have no need to fear Them, unless you belong to the ranks of the wicked which They seek to eradicate. It is what I meant when I told our dear Lara : "Shed your fears and walk the straight path that leads to Fire and Light, or succumb before Their pure majesty."

In closing, my salutations go to you and to the city of Cyrene, or at least to those within her walls who do not act against Creation by cavorting with those who commit crimes against Creation.

Forever Their witness,
Siduri Azagnanna

Penned by my hand on the 16th of Aeguary, in the year 644 AF.
