Your challenge

Lady Melodie,

I understand the burden of grief, and won't lay blame if emotion so toils within you. You know as well as I that your fate is undeserved, and your anger grossly misdirected. Judgment has been levied upon you - not for waning faith, nor for any slip of loyalty, but merely because you are not the mindless toy soldier the Bloodsworn wish you to be. Twice now have you been discarded and treated as refuse, not only by Those you serve, but so too by those others who look to the glare of the Light. Not for any wrongdoing, not for any ill that has been wrought. It is merely crude disdain, flaring only because you are not a rabid, single-minded tool.

Ever have I had a certain respect for you - admiration, even - regardless of our opposing beliefs. You are better than this, and it is not just you and I who know it. I ask you, Melodie, to lay down your mace and instead meet me on the field of discourse. The satisfaction of killing is an ephemeral, fleeting thing. If you find grievance with me, then I would ask that we settle this lucidly, not as scrabbling beasts.

As the Moon wanes, so do we all walk in darkness now and again. In this one must not cower or lash out, but seek the turn of their path. I've nothing to prove here, Lady Melodie. To be quite candid, I don't believe you do either.
