A Deeper Sleep

It is not death
that hath taken those closest away
but a deeper sleep from which they cannot wake

Oh, how I look back on my memories
of old friends asleep -- souls astray

I remember, with honor, the great Satyr Jonners,
and, true, it's a pleasure
to remember the Druids I treasure:

Oceana, Minxie, my student Pannus, and Brae,
and never a day goes by
that I don't think of Yae

Nearly 400 years have gone by,
before so many Gods, pleading for life,
but it is not death that I fear hath taken you away,
but a deeper sleep from which I pray you awake.

Penned by my hand on the 25th of Aeguary, in the year 763 AF.
