A poem about growth

I once was small and helpless, fell far from mother's reach.
A furry critter picked me up, said he had much to teach.
Away he took me, in his arms, protectively they curled;
He buried me deep in the ground and hid me from the world.

My thirst was growing stronger, suffering an endless drought
But finally the rain came strong, and with it my first sprout.
My furry friend has long since left me, lonely and forlorn
But life moves on, and in his absence I weathered the storm.

A sapling swaying in the wind, it tried to take me down
But my roots will not be disturbed, my smile won't turn to frown.
And as my skin now thickens, I reach to greater heights
And as I grow taller and taller, my Kin now reach my sights.

I once was but an acorn, defenseless, weak and small
But now, I stand proud in the forest. Now, I'm standing tall.

Penned by my hand on the 24th of Valnuary, in the year 744 AF.
