All That Glitters

All that glitters glitters only,
A shiny toy is nothing but a toy.
Glitter may catch the eye quickly
But the heart is wiser to the ploy;

Just as one who seeks passion will find,
With each fading comes time to move on.
The shiny toy seeks the child to bind,
But fickle child tarries not for too long.

What then reaches where the heart lies,
Giving it hopes and lasting joys?
It is the stories we weave with our lives
When not blinded by glittering toys.

Penned by my hand on the 21st of Chronos, in the year 657 AF.
