Trails

The morning grass covered in dew so fine
As we kids run o'er it, our parents' eyes shine
Where my only concern is what is mine
But why're you just standing, we're forming a line
Come take my hand, I'll lead the way.

The congregation gathers this fine afternoon
To celebrate our union in this place festooned,
And have such friends to witness - what a boon!
Now hear them start to play a wedding tune
Come take my hand, I'll lead the way.

Night's fallen, though I feel warmth on my face
These sightless eyes fail to discern my place.
Once upon a time, I knew such grace
But now, I'm just a burden, scarce embraced
Oh, if I could but vanish with no trace!
Death take my hand, please lead the way.

Penned by my hand on the 3rd of Chronos, in the year 649 AF.
