Regret

This is a very personal piece that I wrote quite some time ago.

In this heart, once a treasure lived
Here rang an angel's song
Of love fairly won and freely given

Here, held by but one thread
Just one snip and gone
Foolish lust, the taint was taken

Now, from the taint treasure's fled
For beauty now must long
There's no way to mend a heart riven

How to find where love was met
Taunting echos of that song
How to soothe a heartache thickened

Once lost, innocence never held
Now discord the hated song
Hearts hardened and frowns frozen

Tainted now there is but regret
Poisoned treasure is gone
Bitter regret, never forgotten

Penned by my hand on the 18th of Scarlatan, in the year 631 AF.
