Poetry News Post #4226

the great dragon

There is a great dragon lying in wait
In the very depths of your mind.
You hold the key, you must open the gate.
If you keep seeking you will find.

Your dragon breathes the flames of truth,
They serve to warm the wise.
Cradling your inner youth,
Boldly look it in the eyes.

Coiled in wait, your dragon abides
At the foundation of your subtle form.
If awakened you'll see, ever upward it rides
Upon winds that can build to a storm.

Control is delusion, defilement of mind.
You cannot seek to alter the weather.
The cyclone is in you and of you in kind.
Float through the tempest of life like a feather.

The eyes of the dragon can lend you detachment
If only you gain wisdom to see
That most of our lives are lived in attachment
To a materialistic society.

There is a great power that we all possess,
To dispel this material illusion.
But in searching for power we find we arrest
The one thing that can clear our confusion.

Penned by my hand on the 4th of Scarlatan, in the year 615 AF.
